One of the projects I have been working on is a blog site for my Second Life family. I had set up a basic WordPress blog for them as a start. Then as things progressed it started to look more like using WP as a CMS, and so I made a few changes to the layout and made a basic theme ts start from. Eventualy they came to me with what they wanted as a main page…. it looked nothing like a wordpress page, and the comp was all laid out in tables..so I had work to do.
I am trying to use standard compliant XHTMl and CSS, so the table layout needed to go, so I just started at the top of the page and worked my way down till I got a page that looked like the comp. Then created a WP template page to hold the new main page, loaded it up and set it as the main page in preferences.
I then started working on the blog, adding the new header element, footer element, and a custom post separator. I am still waiting for Cainin, who is designing the graphics, to get back to me with the link button graphics, background design, and a post title banner so I can finish off the blog design, but I think it is looking pretty good so far, if you want take a look and let me know what you think.
